What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electric Operations Instructor (Exempt) position at Navajo Tribal Utility Authority?
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
Completion of a Bona-fide Apprenticeship Lineman training program.
Lineman Certification from the USDOL and/or State Apprenticeship Services.
8 years' experience in construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems.
3 years' high level training experience.
Valid Driver's License (subject to motor vehicle review).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:
Delivers classroom, field, and/or hybrid training in electric line operations, including industry standards and best practices.
Delivers training in accordance with tribal, state, and federal regulatory requirements and NTUA's policies and procedures, equipment and guidelines.
Conducts training in proper equipment use, including heavy equipment operator qualifications and protective equipment training.
Conducts training in emergency procedures, including pole top rescue, bucket truck rescue, lock down procedure, CPR/AED/First Aid, and other emergency response protocols.
Maintains high level of professional knowledge of electric line operations, including regulatory updates, industry trends, and other external factors that affect electric utility operations; incorporate updates in training content.
Maintains high level of professional knowledge of adult education methods, including instructional design, needs assessment techniques, evaluation criteria, and intergenerational instruction skills.
Acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in electric line operations for Safety & Employee Development Division staff, including assistance with the development of policy & procedure related to safe work practices in electric line operations.
Advocates for Line Maintainer Helper and Apprentice professional development needs in Apprenticeship Program and Apprenticeship Committee activities.
Monitors Line Maintainer Rotation program for Apprentices and Journeymen and make recommendations to management in order to ensure high-quality, consistent learning experiences.
Advocates safe work practices in electric line operations.
Prepares or assists with the preparation of scheduled and/or ad hoc statistical and narrative reports; performs information gathering and analysis and/or forecasting, as specifically directed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
