Under the direction of the Scales Supervisor, the Cashier provides clerical/cashier and customer support to record all transactions of NAPI product sales and any additional NAPI related sales, including Region II Scale house, Farm Operations Scales, as well as at NAPI sponsored events, i.e., Customer Appreciation, Navajo Nation Fairs, etc.

General Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs all functions related to NAPI products sales along with any additional NAPI related sales.
- Operates a large truck scale recording weights and measures, including “Axel-out” semi-trailers according to the Department of Transportation (DOT) Regulations.
- Records weights, identifies customer, driver and/or truck number, identifies product on a scale ticket.
- Prepares receiving ticket or Bill of Landing forms with accuracy as it relates to scale tickets.
- Responsible for entering all transactional documentation into the Famous Software and Summit Software systems daily.
- Records all sales and receives an exchange in the form of cash, checks, credit/debit card or on account from customers as those transactions occur.
- Records incoming and outgoing inventory accurately to maintain completeness of records.
- Responsible for maintaining good cash handling procedures and internal controls involving all sales transactions.
- Balances cash to sales accurately daily and reports all sales transactions with the necessary paperwork to the Cashier Supervisor and the Accounting department.
- Responsible for the daily deposits, petty cash including security and safeguarding all monetary instruments as they relate to this position.
- Responsible for assisting the Scales Supervisor with the NAPI related sales events i.e. Customer Appreciation, Navajo Nation Fairs, etc. including working with the crop managers during those events.
- Maintains product inventories accurately to assure that deliveries and sales demand are met.
- Understands the quality of products and standards to meet market acceptance.
- Coordinates shipping and receiving schedules as needed.
- Follows set contingency plans for power outages, robbery, etc. as outlined in accordance with Safety.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service and promotes Navajo Pride products.
- Attends staff meetings as required.
- Maintains an organized scale house and/or area as for being clean and neat along with providing a welcoming atmosphere to NAPI customers.
- Supports all NAPI employees in a team effort.
- Works collaboratively, cooperatively, and in coordination with fellow team members and with others in the organization, treats them with respect, courtesy and consideration, and shows understanding and the appropriate support of other team members to help get the job done.
