Description:Job Description: Every boat that leaves the facility must meet or exceed Nautique’s standards. This position assists production staff in finding solutions to problems and working with management to ensure the highest quality standards possible.Duties and Responsibilities:Ensures that all the quality check procedures put in place by the company are followed during every production phase.Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.Approves in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating required adjustments to the production supervisor.Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste, and inputting data into a quality database.Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs as needed.Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and complying with legal regulations.Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.Enforces quality procedures and notes the corrective actions that are taken when needed.Educates the production team on quality control issues and works with department managers to improve overall company safety and product quality.Performs product/process analysis for quality improvement.Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested including keeping the work area clean and orderly.Must comply with all OSHA and safety procedures.Performs any other duties as assigned by management.Requirements:Skills and abilities for success in this position:Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and visual.Excellent organizational skills and self-motivation. Ability to identify different models and read orders. Computer skills including Microsoft and ability to learn Quality programs.Some areas require added skills depending on QC location: Lamination, Gelcoat, Upholstery, Electrical & Water Testing; boat pulling, driving w/trailer; forklift certified. Ability to manage one’s own time and respect the time of others.Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.Ability to work effectively individually or with a team.Ability to perform tasks under time pressure deadlines.Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. Knowledge, Education, and Experience include but are not limited to the following:2 years’ experience with boats/or at Nautique.High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.Must be a licensed driver with a good driving record (subject to MVR). Ability to check boats and or parts in accordance with Nautique’s Quality System.Must have strong attention to detail.Physical and Work Requirements:Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature.Must be able to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods.Must be able to climb into and out of the interior of boats.Must be able to wear proper safety equipment as needed.Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary.The ability to see details at close range.Be able to use and maintain small hand tools (grinder, scraper, razor knife, blower, etc.)
