Nautilus Insurance Group is seeking motivated candidates for our June 2026 EDGE program. As an Assistant Underwriter Trainee, you are a new graduate who is driven and has a foundation in insurance, risk management, or general business. Our extensive, six-month program offers classroom and practical instruction for candidates pursuing a career in property and casualty underwriting.
This unique opportunity is dedicated just for you to learn about insurance and the art of
underwriting.
Trainees who successfully complete the program are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to excel as an Assistant Underwriter and transition out of training to actively handle work items with their underwriting team. The EDGE program takes place in our Scottsdale, Arizona, office and starts in June 2026. Scottsdale is a vibrant location rich in culture, food experiences, and beautiful scenic places to explore. Relocation assistance is available.

Trainees who successfully complete the program are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to excel as an Assistant Underwriter and transition out of training to actively handle work items with their underwriting team. The EDGE program takes place in our Scottsdale, Arizona, office and starts in June 2026. Scottsdale is a vibrant location rich in culture, food experiences, and beautiful scenic places to explore. In the first 6 months, the Assistant Underwriter Trainee will:
- Attend all EDGE classes and events. Complete homework assignments and projects.
- Receive a passing grade (80% or higher) on all exams and quizzes.
- Completed work assignments – under the supervision of their manager
- Assesses and acts on new and renewal accounts to:
- Determine underwriting acceptability
- Determine proper policy issuance
- Provides administrative support by preparing and compiling reports
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business, or related fields
- A strong academic record and passion for the insurance industry
- Strong working knowledge in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Basic mathematical skills
- Strong reasoning ability, including defining and solving problems, drawing conclusions, interpreting data, and making connections
- Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills
