Job Summary:
The Quality Engineer will support the performance of a variety of professional and technical assignments in the PRL Quality Assurance department.
Job Qualifications:
Education: Formal post-secondary education, such as an AS or BS degree in metallurgy, quality, engineering, manufacturing, or a related field, is preferred.
Experience: 5-7 years of professional related experience working in the quality department in an engineering capacity within a manufacturing environment: Experience performing contract review on highly technical and complex ordering data. Familiar with executing corrective action investigations using all major corrective action concepts “5Y, Ishikawa Diagram, EXT.”
Familiarity with nondestructive testing, welding, ASME codes, and Military standards is preferred but not mandatory.
Skills: Well-developed interpersonal, nonverbal, written, and oral communications skills. Computer skills, including Microsoft Office software applications. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform the duties as set forth in the various PRL procedures and work instructions.
- Contract Review Process – review customer P. O. requirements and develop detailed action plans including the execution of welding, NDT, dimensional inspection, heat treatment and welding.
- Review and disposition of material rejection reports.
- Analyze potential inspection process and equipment upgrades to improve quality, reliability, and productivity.
- Review calibration records for compliance and investigate gauge deviations action requirements.
- Perform internal and external audits to ASME and Military compliance standards.
- Review and approve dimensional inspection records for acceptability.
- Perform root cause analysis to understand modes of failure.
- Execute preventative action and mistake-proofing operations.
- Develop quality requirements for subcontracted outside services.
Physical and Mental Efforts:
General: Mobility required, some light to moderate lifting. Position requires walking and standing for long durations; ability see objects closely; and hear normal sounds with some background noises. Position requires ability to concentrate with some interruption and attend to tasks for 45 to 60 minutes at a time.
