Armed Security Officer - Mount Vernon, NY 10550

Job Summary
We are seeking a vigilant and professional Armed Security Officer to protect property, assets, and personnel at our facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment through vigilant surveillance, conflict management, and emergency response. This role requires a strong sense of responsibility, excellent observation skills, and the ability to respond effectively to security incidents. Prior experience in law enforcement, military service, or security is highly valued. The Armed Security Guard will play a crucial role in ensuring safety across the assigned site(s).

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide armed security services to assigned site, monitoring premised through various means to identify suspicious activity or security breaches.
• Conduct regular patrols of premises and monitor access points and ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Deter, observe, and report suspicious or criminal activity.
• Maintain detailed logs of daily activities, incidents, and observations for record-keeping purposes.
• Respond promptly to alarms, disturbances or emergencies with appropriate action including conflict management & de-escalation techniques.
• Assist in conducting investigations related to security incidents and prepare detailed incident and activity reports.
• Enforce site rules, regulations, and security procedures.
• Interact professionally with the public, staff, and law enforcement.
• Control access points by verifying identification and authorizations of visitors and employees

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid New York State Security Guard License.
• Valid NYS Armed Guard certification (47-hour firearms training).
• Valid New York State pistol permit.
• Current 8-hour annual in-service training (or ability to obtain).
• Clean criminal background and ability to pass background checks and any required pre-employment screenings.
• Physically fit and able to stand/walk for extended periods and respond quickly in emergency situations.
• Strong observation, conflict management and de-escalation abilities, communication and decision making skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle stressful situations effectively.
• Prior armed security, military, or law enforcement experience preferred.

Pay: From $30.00 per hour
