Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Support and facilitate educational, meaningful, and fun outdoor experiences to help campers form a personal relationship with the natural world.
- Differentiate activities and programming of weekly, themed sessions according to the age, background, and the needs of campers.
- Manage campers’ physical and emotional safety in outdoor settings using sound judgment and applying appropriate risk management policies and decisions; administer and document first aid as needed.
- Interpret, adapt and lead environmental education and social emotional learning curriculum.
- Maintain camper safety and comfort over uneven terrain in all kinds of weather.
- Proactively engage campers and manage safety in games and activities during early care (8am – 9:15am) and/or aftercare (3:30pm- 5:15pm).
- Supervise campers on shuttle buses (routes to Marin County and San Francisco). Bus rider shifts are assigned on a rotating basis.
- Work collaboratively with another staff member to lead a group of campers and give and receive feedback
- Lead at least one required curriculum activity each week.
- Participate in meetings and trainings as assigned.
- Provide occasional on-call and other program support roles as needed.
- $16.90/hour

- Housing may be provided as a benefit of employment. See an example of our Golden Gate housing Here. Single and double occupancy rooms are available and are assigned based on needs, availability, and seniority. Most counselors will live in a double occupancy bedroom
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Ability to implement and model excellent risk management practices and maintain a physically, socially and emotionally safe environment for our participants
- Experience working with children ages 4-12, particularly in camps or formal or informal education settings.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in education, and creating positive community work culture. We especially encourage you to apply if you have lived experience as a member of (or extensive experience working with people from) any communities that are impacted by the historic and current system of oppression that has limited access to environmental education, or the outdoors in general.
- Available for flexible eight-hour shifts Monday-Friday during camp weeks
- Willingness to be coached and openness to feedback.
- Capable of working as part of a collaborative team.
- Possess current CPR (Adult, Child and Infant) and First Aid certification or ability to get certified before the camp season begins.
- All NatureBridge Employees are required to complete a background check.
