Role Summary: The Part-Time Mobile Wastewater Operator position covers the Long Island service area, providing operations and maintenance support to various wastewater facilities as directed by the operations leadership team. The Part-Time Mobile Wastewater Operator is an independent well-organized self-starter able to manage his/her own time to complete assigned site coverage(s) in their given allotted time. Responsibilities include operations and maintenance as well as alarm call response and client satisfaction.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform critical testing of facility operations, such as PH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, etc., to monitor system condition
- Perform general preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as blower oil, filter and belt changes and pulling and inspecting submersible pumps, etc. (Further defined below in addendum A)
- Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all phases of facility operations
- Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all equipment and plant maintenance
- Assist in preparing monthly written operating report based on facility’s operation and/or maintenance records for the client, employer or regulatory agency as required
- Inform Supervisor in a timely manner of plant problems, upsets, plant expansion, repairs, etc.
- Work conscientiously, adhere to EH&S policies and processes, and be aware of and report safety hazards
- Be prepared to discuss in a professional manner the plant operations with employer, client, visitors or regulatory personnel
- Collect required samples, log in samples correctly and accurately, and submit samples to laboratory and review results to ensure permit compliance
- Operate plants to meet all regulatory guidelines and responsibilities
- Assist maintenance personnel with pump, blower, motor, valve, etc. removal
- Maintain accurate records for gasoline, mileage, timesheets, expenses, etc.
- Work scheduled weekends and occasional holidays for assigned route
- Project a positive image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.
- Confined Space Entry – this may be required on occasion after thorough training provided by NSU
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 2 years of wastewater experience preferred
- Must be able to work up to 29 hours per week/weekend
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays as requested
- Overtime as required

- Driver’s License
- Grade 1A – Grade 3A Wastewater License preferred

Pay range: $30.00–$45.00 per hour, based on certifications, licenses, and relevant experience.
