Overview
We are seeking a professional and organized Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support. This role requires proficiency in medical and dental office management systems, strong communication skills, and a solid understanding of healthcare documentation, insurance processes, and dental terminology. The Dental Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations, accurate record-keeping, and positive patient experiences.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in/check-out procedures using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms
- Schedule appointments efficiently utilizing dental scheduling software while managing multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks
- Collect payments and handle medical billing processes including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and documentation review
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including updating medical history and documentation review
- Manage correspondence related to care plans, insurance claims, and billing inquiries
- Support clinic administrative functions such as filing, data entry (10 key typing), and maintaining organized medical records
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA guidelines and confidentiality standards at all times
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations and provide excellent patient service
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a dental or medical office environment is preferred; clinic experience is highly desirable
- Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is a plus
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and insurance verification processes
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and data entry capabilities (10 key typing)
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and bilingual abilities are advantageous
- Ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail and confidentiality
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management standards
- Previous experience as a medical receptionist or front desk clerk in a healthcare setting is preferred
