Environmental Educator
Position Summary
The Environmental Educator plays a vital role in advancing our non-profit’s mission to educate students and neighboring community members about the environment and its natural and cultural resources, while fostering a lasting love of nature through educational and public programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement educational and community programs
- Lead School Age Vacation /Camp Programming
- Ensuring Safety and enjoyment of all program attendees
- Work closely with team members to achieve departmental goals
- Participate in staff meetings
- Assist as needed with organization wide fundraising events
Qualifications:
- Degree or certification in Education (or related field). Some teaching/public programming experience preferred
- Knowledge/experience in subject matter such as Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, or Ecology is helpful but not mandatory
- Candidate should have excellent public speaking skills, be comfortable in classroom and outdoor settings
- Experience with childcare/summer camps
Physical Requirements and ADA Accommodations
This position involves the following physical activities:
- Occasional prolonged periods of sitting at desk and working at computer
- Long periods of standing, walking
- Occasional bending, lifting and moving of items up to 25 lbs.
- Visual Acuity to view screens
