Brief Description
Crow’s Nest Preserve is made up of 712 acres of protected lands along French Creek. It is part of a network of nature preserves owned and managed by the not-for-profit organization Natural Lands in the greater Philadelphia area. The preserve is both a showcase of responsible management practices for natural areas and a place where the public can connect with the natural world. The Preserve holds a nature-themed day camp each summer for kids in grades 1 through 8. Crow’s Nest Camp strives to build children’s love of the natural world by encouraging unstructured play and exploration in nature. In the summer of 2026, camp will run from June 22nd to July 31st.
The Nature Club Education Assistant will work with the Educator and other staff members to run educational programs on the preserve. This position be involved in both working directly with children and the operating aspects of the education programs including planning and set up/clean up.
The candidate should be experienced in a variety of semi-structured and informal educational techniques and be comfortable in natural settings.
This is a part-time, seasonal position with programs taking place in 8-weeks season in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. The candidate must be able to work during program hours. Generally, this time is according to the program(s) for which you are supporting; typically, mornings from 10:00am – 11:30am and/or afternoons 4:30pm – 6:00pm.

The primary responsibility of the Nature Club Education Assistant assists the Educator and other instructors with all aspects of education programs including:
- Plan experiential activities
- Set up and clean up
- Lead children’s activities
- Strong affinity for the environment and outdoor activities.
- Excel at working with children.
- Highly motivated, responsible, and reliable.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Able to work 37.5 hours per week.
- Must be available to work during program hours; generally, this time is according to the program(s) for which you are supporting; typically, mornings from 10:00am – 11:30am and/or afternoons 4:30pm – 6:00pm.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Successfully pass a background check.
- Must be able to walk, stand, bend and squat on uneven terrain; must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and push up to 50 pounds.
- Must be prepared to work outdoors under all conditions, including heat, cold, and with occasional exposure to poison ivy, biting and stinging insects, etc.
