What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cashier / Sales Associate position at Natural Food Store?
We are looking for a self-motivated and reliable team member who is interested in and open to learning about supplementation and organic foods. This position necessarily entails constant and direct interaction with a huge variety of people - patience, competence and tact are paramount.
This posting is for a six month trial period - after which, if accepted, pay will increase to $18/hr.
Primary duties will be manually operating a register (not a POS system) for which training will be provided. Ringing up customers, bagging purchases, correctly arriving at a total, calculating membership and rewards discounts, issuing and managing Buyer’s Club memberships, maintaining a spreadsheet database of members, carrying bags to vehicles, minding sale items and their exclusions, adding senior and military discounts where applicable, etc.
Self-motivated: You will fill any available time with packaging bulk grocery items (weighing, labeling, etc.) checking product for dates and quality, dusting or cleaning, organizing shelves, fronting product, light stocking, returning stray carts or baskets, keeping isles pristine and more. Note: flexibility is necessary, responsibilities can shift over time.
Reliable: You will be available and consistently appear on time. Timeliness is valued; we should be able to set our watch by you.

Local community: We have been in business for 41 years, cultivating relationships is part of that success. Customers expect a high level of direct service and interaction. We also provide products for immunocompromised, food sensitive, and the otherwise affected - many of which require extra attention.
This trial period will be determined first by your ability to perform in the roll and secondly by how our customers receive you. Cohesion and rapport is non-negotiable.
