Traffic Control Supervisor

Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) – Colorado Springs Airport Construction Project 

Location: Colorado Springs, CO (Colorado Springs Airport – COS) 

Pay: $30–$38 per hour (DOE) 

Type: Full-time, On-site 

Native Sun is seeking a Traffic Control Supervisor for a construction project at Colorado Springs Airport (COS). The TCS will oversee all landside and airport-perimeter traffic control operations, manage flaggers, and ensure work zones meet airport safety and security standards. 

Responsibilities: 

• Read and implement project Traffic Control Plans and the airport's Construction Safety and Phasing Plan to maintain compliant traffic control setups. 
• Supervise flaggers and traffic control staff, ensuring safe and efficient work zones on airport roadways, parking areas, and any construction-adjacent access points. 
• Coordinate daily with construction superintendents, project engineers, and Airport Operations/Airport Authority representatives on schedules, lane or roadway closures, and any NOTAM-related restrictions. 
• Maintain accurate daily records of traffic control activities, crew assignments, badge/access logs, and any changes to TCPs, the CSPP, or site conditions. 
• Respond to changing field conditions, weather, and emergency situations to keep crews, airport personnel, and emergency situations to keep crews, airport personnel, and the traveling public, while maintaining continuous compliance with airport security protocols. 
• Train and mentor flagging personnel on proper procedures, equipment setup, radio communication protocols, and airport-specific safety and security expectations. 
• Maintain personal airport-issued identification at all times per SIDA display requirements and ensure crew members comply with badge display and escort rules. 
• Complete airport driver training and maintain any required Air Operations Area (AOA) or movement-area driving authorization if the role requires access beyond public roadways. 

Requirements: 

• Proof of TCS certification by either the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) or Colorado Contractors Association (CCA) with Flagger endorsement must be provided 
• 3 years of traffic control or roadway construction experience; prior airport or FAA Part 139 project experience strongly preferred. 
• Working knowledge of MUTCD standards, and willingness to complete training on airport-specific safety procedures. 
• Ability to pass a TSA fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and airport security threat assessment to obtain an airport-issued ID/SIDA badge, with no disqualifying criminal offense. 
• Ability to obtain and maintain airport badging and complete required SIDA/security training within the specified timeframe. 
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; must be eligible for AOA/movement-area driving authorization if the project requires it. 
• Strong leadership, communication, and radio communication skills for coordinating with airport operations personnel.  
• Willingness to work on-site at Colorado Springs Airport and outdoors in variable weather conditions. 
• Must comply with all TSA and airport security regulations, including continuous badge display and escort protocols at all times.
