Job Summary
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records through daily cycle counts and system adjustments. This role ensures that physical inventory aligns with system data, and that all products—primarily fresh produce, fruit, dairy, and eggs—are properly stored, rotated, and handled.
This position works closely with sales and operations teams to support customer satisfaction and operational success, while also assisting with audit preparation and inventory-related process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Generate daily inventory count sheets
- Perform and complete daily cycle counts with a high degree of accuracy
- Enter and reconcile inventory data in the system in a timely manner
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
- Adjust inventory records to ensure alignment between physical stock and system data
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and rotation of all inventory (FIFO and quality standards)
- Monitor inventory conditions and identify potential issues (damage, spoilage, etc.)
- Communicate inventory concerns to sales and operations teams to support customer needs
- Notify procurement team when products require repacking or rework
- Assist with audit preparation, documentation, and compliance requirements
- Support cross-functional collaboration to address evolving business needs
- Assist with special projects and other operational tasks as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous inventory or warehouse experience required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Basic math and data entry skills
- Proficiency with inventory systems and general computer use
- Dependable, reliable, and able to work independently
- Ability to identify problems and implement solutions
Physical Demands and Abilities
- Regularly required to use hands to handle, feel, and reach; talk and hear
- Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance
- Regularly lift and/or move 10–75 lbs.; occasionally lift over 100 lbs.
- Operate electric pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment safely
- Work in refrigerated environments and varying temperatures (25°F to 100°F)
- Tolerate wet, cold, and outdoor warehouse conditions during shipping/receiving
- Maintain awareness in a loud environment with machinery and vehicles
- Ability to multitask, reprioritize, and respond quickly to operational needs
- Meet attendance and punctuality standards
