Title: Child Welfare Recovery Navigator

Location: Child & Family, Floor 1 - 620 NE 2nd St., Gresham, OR 97030

Schedule: This is an in-person position, Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

Wage Range: $23.10 – $28.38 hourly, Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

The Child Welfare Recovery Navigator provides support, mentoring and follow-up services to clients, conducts

outreach intervention and aftercare for clients, and facilitates family intervention as needed.

 

What you will do:

  • Help eliminate barriers to treatment for parents referred by DHS Child Welfare by providing transportation, resources, and support. Initial contact with client’s needs to occur within 24 hours of receiving the referral.

  • Prepare accurate records of client services provided daily by preparing clear, concise reports.

  • Maintain good communication and relationships with DHS Child Welfare providers/case managers, coworkers, and other community partners.

  • Attend all DHS applicable meetings, and court hearings as needed.

  • Provide community outreach and conduct screenings in the field for individuals involved with child welfare.

  • Mentor clients by serving as a role model and providing support based on relevant knowledge and experience.

  • Implement strategies to inspire, encourage, motivate, and instruct clients through relapse prevention and recovery.

  • Develop intervention plan for client identified by treatment and housing staff.

  • Escort and provide clients to initial treatment programs.

  • Introduce clients to appropriate 12-step support.

  • Escort clients to primary care provider assessment or mental health assessments when appropriate.

Qualifications:

We would like to hear from people that have:

  • Either High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certification required.
  • Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) certification through MHACBO
  • Understanding of 12-step model of recovery.
  • One year of experience performing the duties noted above or equivalents
  • Active and valid driver's license, clean driving record, and proof of auto insurance. Access to reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of mental health issues and child welfare services preferred.
  • Experience working within the Native American/Alaska Native community preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible work schedule.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients, the community, and other staff members.
  • Must pass a pre-employment or for cause drug tests.
  • Must pass criminal background and DMV checks.
