Job Summary:
The Director of Marketing, Communications, Public Relations & Events provides strategic leadership and hands-on direction for NADC’s public-facing work across programs and affiliated entities. This role oversees organizational messaging, brand, media relations, major events, and external visibility, while supporting leadership priorities around reputation, partnerships, and resource development.
NADC operates across multiple sectors and audiences. This position serves as a central coordinating role—helping leadership tell a clear, credible story, strengthening public trust, and supporting fundraising and partnership efforts through strong communications and relationship-building.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities and Expectations:
Strategy & Leadership
- Lead organization-wide marketing and communications strategy across NADC and its affiliated entities
- Advise executive leadership on messaging, visibility, public positioning, and major initiatives
- Translate organizational priorities into clear communication plans, timelines, and campaigns
- Set realistic priorities when requests and opportunities compete for capacity
- Brand, Storytelling & Communications
- Maintain a cohesive, culturally grounded brand voice across all platforms
- Guide storytelling that reflects community values, lived experience, and program impact
- Oversee creation of print and digital materials, presentations, and public-facing messaging
- Support leadership and staff with clear, polished communication tools as needed
Public Relations & Media
- Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and external communications
- Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, and Native media outlets
- Identify proactive media opportunities tied to programs, events, and organizational milestones
- Draft press releases, media advisories, and talking points
- Prepare leadership and staff for interviews and public-facing engagements
Events & Convenings
- Provide leadership and structure for major events and conferences, including Native ECon and large community gatherings
- Support planning, logistics, promotion, sponsorship visibility, and on-site execution
- Develop clear workflows so events are team-supported
- Guide use of event platforms, registration tools, calendars, and communications
Digital & Public Presence
- Oversee organizational websites in coordination with an external web developer
- Guide social media strategy, tone, and content planning
- Oversee Google Business Profiles, event listings, and public-facing information
- Coordinate paid promotion or external vendors when appropriate
Fundraising & Partnership Support
- Partner with leadership and development staff to support fundraising through strong communications and storytelling
- Develop donor-facing and sponsor-facing materials such as impact summaries, one-pagers, and presentations
- Support fundraising and sponsorship-related events through promotion and messaging
- Coordinate recognition and visibility for funders and sponsors across platforms and events
Systems, Process & Team Development
- Build and document workflows for marketing requests, events, approvals, and timelines
- Strengthen shared systems that improve coordination and reduce reliance on institutional memory
- Supervise and mentor support staff, contractors, or interns as the department grows
- Help leadership assess staffing and capacity needs over time
Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, events, or related leadership roles
- Experience working with Native-led, nonprofit, or community-based organizations strongly preferred
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Experience managing complex projects with many moving parts
- Comfort operating in both strategic and hands-on capacities
- Experience working with vendors, consultants, or support staff
- Familiarity with digital tools, event platforms, and content systems (tools can be learned)

- Work hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM, but will include early morning and/or evening meetings and events.
Salary : $53,000 - $66,000
