Key Responsibilities
- Process and record logistics-related transactions, including carrier invoices, freight payments, and adjustments for domestic and international shipments
- Manage accounts receivable (AR) processes, including generating invoices for clients, tracking payment terms, and ensuring timely collections on outstanding balances
- Oversee collections efforts, proactively contacting clients to resolve past-due accounts, negotiate payment plans, and minimize bad debt in alignment with NTS’s customer-first approach
- Analyze transportation costs, expenditures, and carrier rates to identify cost-saving opportunities and support budgeting for heavy haul and oversized load services
- Reconcile accounts payable/receivable, monitor aging reports for shippers and carriers, and ensure accurate financial reporting for logistics operations
- Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, and regulatory reports specific to trucking and logistics, including compliance with DOT regulations and customs documentation
- Collaborate with operations teams across our U.S. offices (FL, KY, OH) to resolve discrepancies in shipment accounting and provide data-driven insights for customized client solutions
- Assist with monthly/quarterly closings, audits, and forecasting to maintain financial accuracy in a fast-paced brokerage environment
- Support automation of accounting processes using tools like QuickBooks or ERP systems to streamline carrier payments, AR, and collections workflows
- Monitor KPIs for logistics performance, such as on-time delivery costs and fuel surcharges, to contribute to NTS's commitment to reliable, cost-effective services
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience in logistics accounting is more important for the role
- 1 years of accounting experience in logistics, trucking, or third-party brokerage, with hands-on knowledge of freight billing, carrier payments, AR, and collections
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Online, Excel with VLOOKUPs and pivot tables) and familiarity with transportation-specific tools
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles, regulatory compliance (e.g., FMCSA, customs for exports), and industry-specific metrics like load rates and detention fees
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle high-volume data in a deadline-driven setting
Salary : $55,000 - $75,000
