🎯 Position Overview
The Criminal Investigator / Verification Specialist is responsible for conducting thorough background investigations, including criminal record research and employment/education verifications, while ensuring compliance with FCRA and client requirements.
🧠 Key Responsibilities
Criminal Investigations
- Conduct county, state, and federal criminal record searches
- Analyze court records and identify reportable information
- Navigate online court systems, databases, and clerk offices
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with FCRA and state laws
Verifications
- Verify employment, education, professional licenses, and credentials
- Communicate with employers, schools, and institutions via phone/email
- Document findings clearly and professionally in screening reports
General Duties
- Meet turnaround time (TAT) and quality benchmarks
- Maintain detailed notes and audit-ready documentation
- Collaborate with QA and operations teams as needed
✅ Qualifications
Required
- Experience in background screening, investigations, or verifications
- Strong knowledge of criminal records and court structures
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
Preferred
- FCRA knowledge and compliance experience
- Prior work with screening platforms (e.g., ClearStar, First Advantage, IntelliCorp, etc.)
- Experience working with nationwide or high-volume searches
