Summary/Objective
The Machinist II – Team Lead will be responsible for ensuring set-up and operation of machines on second shift. This role will perform a variety of machining operations per engineering drawings to meet daily production requirement. Responsible to ensure shift meets production demands, maintains a safe working environment and reports and issues whether safety or production to supervisor.
Essential Functions

1. Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
2. Set up, adjust, and operate manual machinery such as lathes and mills as well as specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations. Troubleshoot and problem solve as needed for parts to meet quality inspections.
3. Study sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
4. Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
5. Install repaired parts into equipment, or install new equipment.
6. Ability to setup and program CNC and Mill machinery with multiple spindle axis and dual spindles.
7. Collaborate with engineering, supervisory, and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information.
8. Dismantle machines or equipment, using hand tools and power tools, in order to examine parts for defects and replace defective parts where needed.
9. Fit and assemble parts to make or repair machine tools.
10. Measure completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precise measuring.
11. Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.

Preferred Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED.
- Technical certification or minimum five years’ experience with CNC machinery.
- Able to read complex drawings and blueprints, calculate or determine dimensions not given. i.e. true position, datum points, etc.
- Able to work independently and do own set-ups.
- Able to use measuring equipment.
- Data input skills / computer skills.
- Advanced PLC knowledge of controller to edit, write, trouble shoot programs.
- Knowledge of operating manual secondary equipment, drill press, saw, punch press, etc.
- Have the advanced knowledge to hold tolerance /- 0.0001.
- Advanced knowledge of various metals to optimize tooling to OEM specifications.
- Advanced mathematical ability.
- Proficiency in problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
