Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed inspections, maintenance, and testing of fire extinguishers in accordance with NFPA standards and local fire codes.
  • Install new fire extinguisher units, ensuring proper placement and compliance with building code requirements.
  • Conduct fire alarm system maintenance, troubleshooting proprietary control panels, sensors, and schematics to ensure optimal operation.
  • Read electrical blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to facilitate system design and installation projects.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, and CAD software to assist with system design, construction inspection, and installation tasks.
  • Ensure building code compliance during all phases of fire suppression system installation and service work.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by explaining system functions, safety procedures, and maintenance requirements to clients.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a service technician or construction worker with a focus on fire alarm systems or sprinkler systems.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge combined with electrical blueprint reading skills and electrical work experience aligned with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
  • Familiarity with low voltage systems, sensors, alarms, and proprietary fire alarm control panels.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, fire codes, NFPA standards, and building regulations accurately.
  • Hands-on experience with power tools, hand tools, and CAD for system design or installation tasks.
  • Knowledge of sprinkler fitting techniques and fire sprinkler systems is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with engineering troubleshooting capabilities related to fire alarm systems or electrical issues.
  • Exceptional customer service skills to effectively communicate technical information to clients at various levels of understanding.
