A Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, business administration, or a closely related field is required at the time of hire or must be completed within twelve months of hire. If the Master’s degree is not in nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.

Job Description Summary:

The Program Manager supports, communicates, implements, and enforces the philosophy, mission, values, standards, policies, and procedures of Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the departments, and meets compliance with regulatory standards and statutes. This is a full-time, working 40 hours per week, exempt position. Will oversee the Physician Consult and Transfer Center, PBX operators, Emergency Communication Center, and the EMS coordinators. Plans, implements, and evaluates the administrative, supervisory, and direct activities for assigned staff. Communicates goals and strategies, provides direction, priorities, enthusiasm, and support.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:
  • Manages day-to-day operations, schedules staff effectively and oversees quotas for service volume and response. Develops and implements plans to meet goals.
  • Assures that performance standards for all staff are met and manages employment lifecycles. Evaluates current processes, develops departmental policies and procedures, and participates in policy review. Assists and directs staff related to identifying and meeting learning needs.
  • Collaborates to develop expense and capital budgets. Monitors, evaluates, and justifies monthly budget expenditures and revenue. Processes bills and payments for transportation services provided, based on contracts. Oversees supply inventory and department equipment.
  • Conducts frequent drills and exercises to ensure competency of staff, participates in quality improvement and safety initiatives, and responds to customer inquiries.
  • Coordinates staff representation and serves as a representative on departmental, hospital, and community task forces, committees, quality teams and advisory groups.
  • Prepares, maintains, reviews, and reports out information as requested of departments and databases.

Education Requirement:

Current nursing licensure in the State of Ohio, required.

Skills:
  • Must have a robust skill set, knowledge, and experience in systems process design, implementation, training, and evaluation. Must be skilled in the use of new technologies and associated onboarding, development, and implementation of enhancements and/or new systems.
  • Supervisory, analytical, initiative, accountability, and organizational skills required to plan, assign, and evaluate the work staff, evaluate, develop and administer policies, procedures, budgets, and multidisciplinary practices.
  • Exceptional customer service, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal relationship skills required for interaction with contacts, multidisciplinary collaboration, and change management.
  • Strong knowledge of quality improvement methodology, leadership, and decision-making skills, required.
  • Ability to work in extremely stressful situations, providing leadership and direction during emergency situations and disasters.

Experience:
  • Three years of hospital/emergency medical/pre-hospital or emergency call/dispatch experience and demonstrated competence in area of expertise, required.
  • Knowledge of emergency department and/or call/communication center operations strongly desired.
