Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. This role is essential in ensuring smooth operations within our medical office, providing administrative support, and enhancing patient experiences. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding, and various electronic health record (EHR) systems. Responsibilities
- Manage front desk operations, including greeting patients and answering multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
- Schedule patient appointments efficiently while ensuring optimal use of clinic resources.
- Conduct insurance verification and assist patients with understanding their coverage.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Process medical billing and coding using CPT and ICD-10 codes, ensuring accuracy in claims submissions.
- Review care plans and assist in the preparation of patient intake forms.
- Utilize EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms for documentation and patient management.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing correspondence within the office.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure seamless patient service and support.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized office environment.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred; familiarity with dental terminology is a plus.
- Proficient in medical collection processes and insurance verification procedures.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and billing practices.
- Experience with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is advantageous.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff; bilingual abilities are highly desirable.
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a focus on patient satisfaction.
