What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-time Accountant position at Nations Construction?
Smaller family construction company in central Houston looking for a part time Accountant to work 20-30 hours a week in the office (could lead into a fulltime role if desired). Candidates MUST HAVE the accounting and payroll required for the position. Experience with Sage Peachtree program would be preferred.
Job Description:
Accounting:
- Review and input invoices using Sage Peachtree
- Research bills with a prior month balance.
- Make sure general ledger coding is correct
- Disperse checks.
- Maintain calendar of recurring monthly payments and review at month end.
- Reconcile all bank accounts monthly.
- Run Semi-monthly payroll on QuickBooks.
- Reimburse payroll cash account for ranch employees.
- Get payroll checks signed and mail so they will have by pay day.
- Review general ledgers for correct account coding.
- Make appropriate payroll tax deposits online, monthly.
- Prepare quarterly payroll tax returns, federal and state.
- Prepare and file 1099 and W-2’s at the end of the year.
Minor Property Management:
- Obtain renewal insurance premium estimates.
- Pay all Ad Valorem taxes by due date.
- Rent collection
Qualifications:
- 2 to 3 plus years of Accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work closely with employees at all levels in the organization.
- Familiar with MS office products – advanced Excel user.
- Attention to detail and follow through with time sensitive requests in a fast-paced environment, ability to meet deadlines and work independently
