Locum / Contract | 40 Hours per Week Guaranteed

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Locum Inpatient Pharmacist to join the pharmacy team at an acute-care hospital in Durango, CO. This is an excellent opportunity for a hospital pharmacist who is comfortable working across multiple clinical areas and has strong experience with hospital pharmacy operations and sterile compounding.

The ideal candidate is experienced, flexible, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced inpatient environment.

Position Details

• Position: Inpatient Pharmacist
• Setting: Acute Care Hospital
• Employment Type: Locum / Contract
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Shift Length: 10 hours
• Shift Times: Variable shifts between 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Call Requirement: 1 night per week
• Holiday Coverage: As assigned
• Orientation: 12 hours, including general and department-specific orientation
• EHR: Epic
• Medication Dispensing: Pyxis
• Dress Code: Hospital-laundered scrubs provided

Responsibilities

The Inpatient Pharmacist will support pharmacy services throughout the hospital and may work with multiple clinical areas, including:

• Emergency Department (ER)
• Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Inpatient services
• Imaging
• Cath Lab
• Hospice
• Other hospital service areas as needed

Common responsibilities include:

• Medication and patient review
• Pyxis medication pulls
• Medication protocols and dosing
• Phone triage
• Multidisciplinary rounding
• DTM participation
• Sterile product compounding
• Supporting safe and effective medication therapy
• Other hospital pharmacy operational and clinical duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Active Colorado Pharmacist License
• BLS certification through AHA
• Minimum 2 years of pharmacy experience
• Previous hospital/inpatient pharmacy experience
• Previous sterile compounding experience
• Experience with hospital pharmacy operations
• Ability to work variable 10-hour shifts
• Ability to work every other weekend
• Willingness to participate in one night of call per week
• Valid driver's license required due to the facility's 60-mile radius requirement

Technology & Systems

• Epic EHR
• Pyxis medication dispensing
• Sterile compounding systems and hospital pharmacy workflows

Orientation & Hiring Process

Candidates will go through a profile review with the client, followed by an interview with the facility's pharmacy/unit manager.

Please note: Candidates must be in state during the week of orientation, even if some initial orientation modules are completed remotely.
