Job Summary
National Signal is in search of a talented Electro-Mechanical Engineer, with excellent critical thinking and troubleshooting skills to design future products and update existing equipment. This role will be a central figure driving engineering projects and activities for the company. They will work closely with Sales and Operations on key customer issues, cost, and quality improvement.
This role will report directly to the VP of Engineering for National Signal. There are currently no direct reports for this role, however, this individual is the team leader providing guidance and direction for the Engineering group.
Responsibilities
· Product Design and Development
· Proficiency in Solidworks
· Electro-mechanical design and component selection
· Using Solidworks/AutoCad to produce layout drawings from concept to prototype
· Trailer/structural/fastener design using bending moment/FEA to calculate stress
Skills
· 12 years in mechanical design using metal tubing, sheet metal, hydraulics, etc.
· Experience with small diesel engine operation
· Basic operation of a small diesel engine.
· Knowledge of wet stacking and prevention.
· Enclosure design for airflow for engine temperature management.
· Engine control programming and communication with the engine to allow system to run correctly. Ex. where to tap for engine start/stop, monitor rpm, oil temp, oil pressure, voltage (starter & bank), canbus, fuel start/stop, etc.
· Experience with photovoltaic systems
· Basic operation of a solar/battery/load system.
· Experience with hydraulic systems
· Understanding of hydraulic pump, hydraulic cylinder, hydraulic manifold.
· Basic AutoCad (Majority of the layout drawings were done in AutoCad. Ability to do drawings for wiring diagrams in AutoCad or equivalent 2D software.)
· Fundamental understanding in electrical layouts. Experience in solar power systems.
· Research new technologies and determine whether they are fit for our products.
· Analyze and test new designs to determine the best materials and processes and create documentation and reports.
· Ability to work hands on to solve complex problems.
· Create detailed parts & assembly drawings, bills of material and working models in Solidworks.
Desired Skills:
* Experience with lighting
* Understanding of codes such as ANSI and ASTM
Excellent verbal and written skills
· Perform structural analysis, wind load calculation, and fatigue analysis where required.
Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
