Responsibilities

With the rapid evolution of signals technology, the NSA must maintain and develop a highly talented and diverse workforce of Signals Analysts who are a vital part in maintaining our technical capabilities to produce signals intelligence. The selected individual will be required to complete the Signals Analysis Development Program as a precursor for assignment to a technical mission office at NSA. The NSA/CSS Signals Analysis Development Program (SADP) is a three-year development program of intensive, structured, formal training courses and diverse work assignments designed to produce professional signals analysts. Signals Analysts analyze signals from various sources including: foreign communications, radar, and other electronic systems. The selected individual will apply their base-knowledge in mathematics, computer engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or physics to exploit advanced signals data to aid Department of Defense initiatives to protect U.S. forces around the globe. The selected individual will work in a dynamic environment with duties that may include the following: - Identify and analyze waveforms in different domains (e.g., weapon or aircraft systems, communications systems) - Identify and analyze bit streams (e.g., multiplexers, error correction, voice and video compression, instrumentation systems) - Identify and analyze protocols (e.g., link layer, network layer, application layer) NOTE: A copy of your unofficial transcript is highly encouraged to be submitted with your application and may expedite processing.

Job Summary

Signals Analysis is a cutting-edge technical discipline that seeks to identify the purpose, content and user(s) of signals. Given today's rapidly evolving global communications, the NSA must maintain and develop a highly talented and diverse workforce of Signals Analysts who are a vital part in maintaining our technical capabilities to use the most sophisticated means to recover, understand, and derive intelligence from all manner of foreign signals.

Qualifications

The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Degree must be in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, a Physical Science, or a related technical field. A broader range of degrees will be considered for those who have completed a relevant military training program. Relevant experience must be in one or more of the following: signals analysis (COMINT, ELINT, FISINT or PROFORMA), or design and engineering of aerospace, communications, electronic or industrial systems. ENTRY/DEVELOPMENTAL Entry is with a Bachelor's degree and no experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience will be considered for applicants who have completed relevant military degree programs or completed relevant military training, for example, 9141 (Navy Intermediate Technical ELINT Analyst), 1N2A (Air Force Intermediate Technical ELINT Analyst), 451/461 (Intermediate Signals Analysis), 452 (Advanced Signals Analysis), or Military Signals Analysis Program (MSAP). FULL PERFORMANCE Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience, or a Doctoral degree and no experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 7 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience will be considered for applicants who have completed relevant military degree programs or completed relevant military training, for example, 9141 (Navy Intermediate Technical ELINT Analyst), 1N2A (Air Force Intermediate Technical ELINT Analyst), 451/461 (Intermediate Signals Analysis), 452 (Advanced Signals Analysis), or Military Signals Analysis Program (MSAP).

The ideal candidate is someone with a desire for learning, problem-solving, analytic application and who is or can be: - accountable - flexible - resilient - communicate effectively - collaborate with others The following degrees are highly sought after: Aerospace Engineer, Computer Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Mathematics, and Physics. Veterans with relevant military training in signals analysis and a Bachelor's degree in any area will be considered.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Salary ranges vary by location and work level. This position is hiring for Maryland. Salary Range: $77,745 - $122,459 (Entry/Developmental, Full Performance) On-the job training, Internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee. Typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirements between 0600 to 1800 (flexible).
