Position Summary
The Utility Worker is responsible for performing a wide variety of duties to maintain the flow of work necessitated by production schedules. Under the direction of the supervisor, this position will support various areas of production including, but not limited to, fabrication, assembly, testing, machining, painting, assembly, warehouse and shipping/receiving. This position will be responsible for handling work in progress and supporting the different departments as product moves through each stage of production in the safest and most efficient manner while adhering and reinforcing all safety and ISO procedures and processes.
Duties and Essential Job Functions
- Assist in all manufacturing functional departments where additional manpower is required to accomplish operational demands.
- Hands on exerience with vertical pumps and other pumps with assembly, testing, painting, and shipping and receiving.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications. Document and communicate results.
- Identify potential delays with production and communicate with supervisor to identify resolution.
- Maintain a clean work area in compliance with all safety requirements.
- Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems
- Attends and participates in meetings
- Additional duties and/or projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience in related field; or comparable work experience (2 years) in the pump industry.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or utility environment is preferred
- Overhead crane experience preferred
- Forklift experience required
- Pallet jack experience required
Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
The Utility Worker must be able to stand and or sit for long periods of time, be able to lift at least 75 pounds, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel or crouch, be able to talk & hear and be proficient with the English language in both verbal and written skills. Specific vision requirements are to have close, distance, color, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to use hands, fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
