Tangible deliverables that will be achieved:

  • Advance NPCA’s goal to connect with community leaders about national park issues by meeting with local elected and agency officials in Miami-Dade County.
  • Participate in meetings, phone calls, and events with environmental and community partners to protect Everglades National Park and the surrounding ecosystem from development threats, including representing NPCA on the Hold the Line Coalition in Miami.
  • Draft language for NPCA advocacy alerts and updates to members in South Florida.
  • Develop a suite of outreach materials, which may include PowerPoint slides, one-pagers, and other visuals that will support NPCA’s ongoing engagement of new national park advocates and education among local community leaders on national park issues.
  • Support virtual and in-person events in South Florida as opportunities arise.

Minimum Qualifications, Competencies, Skills, Education, and Traits:

  • Strategic thinking skills with the ability to perform thorough, self-directed research and produce concise memos and reports.
  • Excellent writing, research, and editing skills.
  • Strong public speaking, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Capacity to respond to requests and complete tasks in a timely, high-quality manner.
  • Outgoing individual comfortable with community engagement and public speaking.
  • Enthusiasm, positive attitude, and interest in national park and environmental issues.
  • Background or experience in environmental issues preferred but not required.
