This is a full-time, on-site Fire Marshal role located in Omaha, NE. The Fire Marshal will oversee fire prevention and protection programs within NPS-managed properties, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and federal standards. Responsibilities include conducting fire safety inspections, coordinating drills and training, maintaining equipment, and managing emergency response plans. The role requires collaboration with park staff to promote fire safety awareness and to develop strategies for protecting both natural resources and the visiting public. Additionally, the Fire Marshal will document incidents, prepare reports, and support the development of regional fire management policies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of fire prevention, suppression techniques, and emergency response protocols
- Experience in inspecting fire systems, managing drills, and maintaining fire protection equipment
- Strong understanding of OSHA and federal safety standards regarding fire prevention and building safety
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills for collaborating with teams and training personnel
- Proficiency in analyzing risk, creating safety plans, and documenting compliance efforts
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- National certifications such as Fire Inspector, Firefighter, or Emergency Manager are preferred
