Job Description:
The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for several aspects of the museum’s facility, building, and grounds. Under the guidance of the Director of Exhibits and Facilities, the Facilities Coordinator will be given daily tasks in the assistance of maintaining and repairing many areas of the museum. This may include plumbing, painting, irrigation, HVAC assistance, mechanical work, and general construction, requiring prior knowledge and experience related to facility upkeep. The Facilities Coordinator will report directly to and often work directly with the Director of Exhibits and Facilities to complete tasks within a stated deadline.
The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for maintaining many areas of the museum building to keep day-to-day facility operations running smoothly. The Facilities Coordinator will complete duties as assigned by the Director of Exhibitions and Facilities and will keep a log of any ongoing maintenance issues as well as report any building issues to the Director of Exhibitions and Facilities. Day to day assignments will vary from anything to fixing toilets, sinks, doors, and occasional janitorial work as needed as it relates to the job assignment. This work may include painting, heavy equipment operation, changing parking lot lights at heights above the ground in outdoor and indoor conditions, and a wide variety of other tasks. Prior experience in facility upkeep is a requirement upon job entry.
This position may need to, at times, assist with work alongside the exhibitions staff in conjunction on projects as needed. The duties of this position may at times entail working in a wood and metal shop construction area following common safety practices is critical as is experience with environmental compliance in safe use of materials and workplace safety. The Facilities Coordinator will work toward addressing any issues with the building in a timely manner. This work will often include manual labor. Major building issues with HVAC, electrical, or plumbing will be repaired by one of the museum's outside service contractors, although the facilities coordinator may be at times asked to assist in this. This position will also be a part of the exhibits and facilities team at the museum. All tasks and duties will be assigned by the Director of Exhibits and Facilities.
This is a part-time position of 20-30 hours per week. This position may occasionally be required to deviate from a routine schedule as needed.
Requirements: The Facilities Coordinator will have knowledge of basic facility upkeep techniques and maintenance. They must possess strong project management skills, have a passion for creative solutions, a high degree of personal energy, and great communication and interpersonal skills. Must be well organized and able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced museum environment with multiple projects.
· Mechanical work, including some plumbing and electrical.
· Experience using heavy machinery and tools.
· Basic repair work on flooring, cabinetry, door, windows etc.
· Work outdoors on irrigation, parking lot, flag poles, etc. on occasion
· Repair of any and or all broken items within the museum as needed as they relate to the facility with the exception of large ticket items which are handled by outside contractors. This position will not do any repair work on the exhibition floor without prior approval and oversight from the exhibitions team.
· Some knowledge of IT is a plus but not necessary as they will also maintain and upkeep our theater and classroom area.
Desired Attributes

Salary and Benefits: This is a permanent, part-time hourly position of $19 per hour with a flexible schedule that will be determined as projects and funding requirements are developed.
