Overview
The primary role of the Development Associate II is to assist the Director of Development and the Development department at the Nuclear Museum with various administrative, fundraising, and event planning tasks.
The Development Associate will assist the Director of Development with grant writing and sponsorships to support the museum. This position will research, develop, write, and submit proposals, letters, reports, and other materials necessary to secure grant support from private foundations and government funding sources, as well as work with local businesses for sponsorships.
This position will assist in the planning and execution logistics of large-scale annual museum and fundraising events such as Movie Under the Wings, Discovery After Dark, and Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Day, including but not limited to scheduling food trucks, vendors, set up and break down, and staff logistics.
This position will assist with the Einstein Gala Silent and Live Auction. The role includes procuring items, record keeping, donation recognition, and the transport and set up/break down of the auction. Procurement includes research, communication, and arranging for delivery or physically picking up items from local businesses.
The Development Associate II will assist the Facilities Rental Coordinator with rental management and serve as back up for facility rentals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Investigate and identify prospective funding sources through colleagues, directories, periodicals, and internet research.
- Write letters of inquiry and solicitation for funding and draft compelling grant proposal narratives for general operating and restricted project grants.
- Assist the Director of Development in managing grant and sponsorship activity, reporting, and management of data.
- Attend all Museum member and public events
- Ability to work effectively with a wide range of clients in a diverse community and plan events to bring different clients to the museum.
- Skills with the use of current technology and applications. Must be tech-savvy and understand and solve problems as they arise on the spot with technology.
- Ability to focus with high attention to details of events, while juggling multiple projects at various stages of development and implementation.
- Ability to provide excellent internal and external customer service.
- Strong written composition skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and quick turnaround solutions.
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Physical ability to complete rental set-ups and teardowns, such as chair set-up, moving tables, etc., and able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ensure the maintenance of clean data and up-to-date records
- Occasional evening and weekend event attendance will be required

- Have reliable transportation, needed for auction item pick up, attending outreach or training events.

Basic Work Week: The position is a full-time, non-exempt hourly position with 40 hours/week. Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision after 90 days, Matching 401K after 6 months. Pay starting at $40,000.
