About the Role:
NMS is seeking experienced Due Diligence Mortgage Underwriters to support a project with one of our key clients. This is a remote 1099 contractor position offering flexible hours and compensation on a pay-per-file basis. Work will be intermittent.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mortgage underwriting, with a focus on non-QM, DSCR, Bank Statement loans, and complex income analysis. Experience with LauraMac is required.
You will be an independent contractor of NMS, completing due diligence reviews for residential mortgage loan files. This role requires precision, efficiency, and a deep understanding of investor guidelines and secondary market requirements.
Responsibilities:

Perform comprehensive due diligence underwriting of residential mortgage loan files, ensuring compliance with investor guidelines and company policies

Review and validate income, assets, credit, and collateral documentation

Focus on complex income types, DSCR, bank statements, and non-QM loans

Enter findings and documentation into LauraMac

Clearly document and communicate findings or exceptions as needed

Maintain a high level of accuracy and timeliness while managing assigned files

Work independently and meet file delivery expectations and deadlines
Requirements:

3 years of mortgage underwriting experience, with a focus on due diligence or investor-level reviews

Mandatory experience using LauraMac for file reviews

Strong knowledge of DSCR, Bank Statement, and Non-QM loan products

Proven ability to analyze complex income scenarios and make sound underwriting decisions

Reliable internet, secure remote work environment, and ability to meet file deadlines

Excellent written communication and documentation skills
