Mortgage Underwriter (Conventional or DE) – On-Site or Hybrid
Our client is seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter (Conventional or DE) to join their expanding underwriting team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in residential underwriting, proven Agency experience (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA), and the ability to analyze complex borrower profiles. DE certification is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities

Review and underwrite Agency and FHA mortgage applications for compliance with investor guidelines.

Analyze borrower income, credit, assets, and collateral for accuracy and risk.

Ensure all files meet internal and investor requirements for quality and compliance.

Communicate underwriting decisions and conditions to internal teams clearly and promptly.

Collaborate with processors, account managers, and sales teams to resolve conditions and expedite approvals.

Maintain current knowledge of Agency and FHA regulations and investor updates.

Manage multiple files efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of residential mortgage underwriting experience

3 years of Agency underwriting experience (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, or FHA)

FHA experience required; DE certification strongly preferred

Proficiency in Encompass LOS, CoreLogic FraudGuard, and AUS (DU, LPA, Total Scorecard)

Excellent analytical and communication skills

Currently active in the industry (no unemployment longer than 12 months)
Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $70,000–$100,000 (DOE)

Bonus: Monthly, after 2 years (based on funding volume)

Benefits: Health Insurance, SIMPLE IRA (3% match), PTO, 5 sick days

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. PST
