Position Description
The Community Engagement Coordinator builds connections between NMCLP and the communities we serve by organizing in-person and virtual events, gathering community feedback and stories, nurturing new and ongoing relationships, and driving targeted digital outreach. This role blends hands-on community engagement with strategic digital tools to strengthen relationships and mobilize communities around policies and issues that matter most to them.
NMCLP is a nationally recognized nonprofit law firm that engages in systemic advocacy and impact litigation to advance the health, economic, and educational wellbeing of New Mexico’s families. We partner with communities across New Mexico, including immigrant and Native American communities, to provide advocacy and representation through the courts, the legislature and administrative agencies, community education, and media. Responsibilities
Community Outreach: Builds relationships and engages community members in trainings, hearings, storytelling opportunities and needs assessments. Grows NMCLP networks through in-person and digital outreach, and works with the Communications Team to integrate messaging, materials, and storytelling opportunities into ongoing campaigns.
Maps organizations statewide for outreach, know-your-rights trainings and materials distribution.
Event Coordination: Plans and manages event logistics. Tracks attendance, gathers feedback, and manages follow-up.
Database and Contact Management: Develops and maintains a centralized contact/engagement database. Tracks participation, history, and campaign involvement.
Community Leadership and Mobilization: Supports and develops community leaders to take active roles in advocacy and public engagement. Shares updates and action alerts to mobilize participation. Connects community members with stories and quotes to the Communications Team and helps prepare and equip community members to lead, speak, and advocate in public forums and events.
Staff Support: Builds team capacity with event planning templates, outreach tools, database training, multilingual access at events, and other supports as identified.
