The Director of Human Resources is a senior leadership position responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all human resources functions at National Irrigation Services, LLC and its subsidiaries. Reporting directly to the Operating Partner / CEO, this individual will serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership while championing a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement. The Director of HR will lead all aspects of talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, payroll, performance management, training and development, and HR compliance. This role is critical to building and maintaining a high-performing workforce aligned with NIS’s mission, values, and long-term growth strategy in the irrigation and field services industry.


  • Partners with the Operating Partner / CEO and senior leadership team to align HR strategies with NIS’s organizational goals, growth plans, and seasonal operational needs
  • Leads full-cycle talent acquisition efforts including workforce planning, job posting, interviewing, offer negotiation, and onboarding for all positions across the company and its subsidiaries
  • Develops, updates, and enforces HR policies, procedures, and the employee handbook to ensure consistency, fairness, and legal compliance
  • Oversees compensation and benefits programs, conducting periodic market analysis to ensure NIS remains competitive in attracting and retaining top talent
  • Manages employee relations matters including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, grievances, and investigations; serves as a trusted and impartial resource for all staff
  • Designs and implements performance management systems, including annual reviews, goal-setting frameworks, and improvement plans to foster accountability and employee growth
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, and HIPAA requirements
  • Oversees accurate and timely payroll processing through Paycom; ensures employee data changes are entered and maintained throughout the full employee life cycle from hire through termination
  • Assists with merit increases, bonuses, promotions, and off-cycle compensation processes in partnership with leadership
  • Develops and administers training and development programs that support technical skill-building, leadership development, safety compliance, and company culture initiatives
  • Assists employees with health and welfare benefits including annual enrollment, employee communications, and ensuring benefits are properly aligned with payroll
  • Maintains accurate and confidential HR records and reporting metrics in Paycom; provides data-driven insights on headcount, turnover, and engagement to leadership on a regular basis
  • Establishes regular check-in meetings with leadership to keep them informed on important HR issues, initiatives, and compliance updates
  • Adapts HR processes and priorities with flexibility to support the company’s seasonal operational demands


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior HR leadership or management role
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment law including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, HIPAA, and state-specific labor regulations
  • Experience working within a field services, irrigation, landscaping, construction, utilities, or technically skilled trades environment is highly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency with HRIS and payroll platforms; hands-on experience with Paycom strongly preferred
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems (ATS) is a plus
  • High level of integrity and discretion with the ability to protect confidential information
  • Ability to adapt as the needs of the role and company evolve with flexibility in a seasonal industry

Salary : $85,000 - $125,000
