What are the responsibilities and job description for the Post Doctoral Fellow position at National Institutes of Health?
The Barchi group has a position open for a synthetic chemist/chemical biologist in glycoscience focussing on cancer immunotherapy and nanotechnology. The position is at the National Cancer Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health, at the Frederick Maryland campus. The work will involve small molecule synthesis, NMR-based structure determination, nanoparticle preparation/characterization and bioassay development.
About the position
The position will involve synthetic chemistry of small oligosaccharides, preparation of various nanoparticles and their characterization, as well as a good working knowledge of NMR spectroscopy and conformational analysis. The synthetic work will be of Tumor- Associated carbohydrate Antigens (TACAs), various linkers to be conjugated to TACAs and attachment to nanoparticles. Good characterization skills are a must. Willingness to perform various bioassays such as ELISA, SPR and glycan array analysis to show lectin/mAb binding to nanoparticles and responses to treating immune cells with constructs. These would involve determining cytokine and cell surface marker expression.
