Summary

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU

The NHL Productions Digital group is seeking a versatile production assistant to support the various aspects of content creation. You'll be responsible for assisting with the planning, coordination, and execution of digital video projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and to the NHL standard. This may involve conducting research, logging, tagging and editing highlights, organizing project files, and providing creative input.

The ideal candidate is a multimedia expert who knows all the latest trends, how to create long/short-form content for all digital platforms, including YouTube, and has an interest in the performance analytics for that content. Candidates should possess strong creativity and innovative problem-solving skills that will be valuable in generating new ideas, brainstorming content concepts, and finding creative ways to engage the audience.

Lastly, this candidate has their finger on the pulse of the NHL and possesses a confident knowledge of current NHL news, trends, players, teams, and its history. Candidates are expected to understand how to create content for the game of hockey and its fans while maintaining the NHL’s brand voice.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for logging, creating, and maintaining well-structured season-long projects
  • Editing 16x9 thematic video compilations and 9x16 verticals using Adobe Premiere and WSC Clipro and have a working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
  • Media managing and syndicating video files, ensuring that they are delivered on time, organized appropriately and backed up regularly
  • Conducting research and providing creative input
  • Monitoring sports leagues, teams, broadcasters, and athlete accounts to identify trends, best practices, new audiences, new collaborations, and new ideas
  • Assisting in SEO strategy for titles and descriptions
  • Finding new ways to engage with the NHL's community in the YouTube Community feed

Qualifications

Knowledge Areas/Experience

Required

  • Passionate about the game of hockey, the storylines surrounding its players, coaches, teams, rules, standings, and history of the league, as well as an understanding of hockey stats and analytics
  • Ability to work in a deadline-drive, fast-paced environment while handling critical tasks in a composed and timely manner
  • Experience producing and editing video content for digital platforms, particularly YouTube using Adobe Premiere and Photoshop
  • Strong knowledge of video formats, compression and media management
  • Experience operating video camera and lighting equipment for on-site production and content gathering
  • Outstanding editorial judgment, creative abilities, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think outside the box, adapt on-the-fly, and assist the team through testing and learning
  • Desire to work in a fast pace, 24/7 sports environment
  • Must be able to work holidays, weekends, overnights, and extended hours as part of the larger digital video news team, as deadlines require
  • Travel may be required

SALARY RANGE:

$55-60K

Actual base pay for a successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to: experience/training, market demands, and geographic location.
