The Intern, Engineering Track - United States is responsible for participating in the development of a Capital Plan for the region that allocates funding based on information from different data sources. The role contributes to planning infrastructure investments and improving safety at CN.
Major Responsibilities
- Assist the Manager Track Quality in building multi-year Capital Plans
- Collect and consolidate multiple track conditions and repair history data from multiple sources
- Develop templates for prioritizing Rail, Tie, and Surfacing programs
- Learn the basics of track structure and critical parameters regarding the structure's quality and degradation
- Support the Chief Regional Track and Senior Managers Engineering in preparing business cases related to Special Capital for similar programs
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Collaborates with others and shares information
- Applies critical thinking
- Identifies potential safety and security risks
- Demonstrates active listening
- Ability to travel (20 to 30% of the time)
- Ability to work occasionally in the evening
- Valid Driver's Licence
- Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management with a minimum of 2 years completed
- Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering*
- Any experience/education/skills/knowledge for these above would be considered as an asset
