Position Overview
Local Candidates only The HR Generalist at National Health Foundation (NHF) is responsible for payroll processing, timecard accuracy, employee relations, and compliance across all NHF sites. This role ensures accurate and timely payroll for multi-site operations, supports leaders in maintaining timecard accountability, and upholds compliance with labor laws and NHF policies.
In addition, the HR Generalist will provide guidance on employee relations, onboarding/offboarding, and compliance recordkeeping, while serving as a key partner to managers and site leaders.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process payrolls for all NHF sites, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of each pay cycle.
- Review timecards for accuracy, identifying errors, missed punches, or policy concerns.
- Maintain open communication with site leaders to ensure they are reviewing and approving timecards on schedule.
- Audit payroll reports and reconcile discrepancies before final processing.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee relations matters, escalating to leadership as appropriate.
- Guide managers on timekeeping, attendance, and conduct expectations.
- Support workplace investigations, including documentation, fact-finding, and records management.
- Respond to EDD unemployment claims, prepare supporting documentation, and assist with hearings.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including wage and hour, FMLA, ADA, and workplace posting requirements.
- Maintain HR files and compliance records in accordance with legal standards.
Talent Acquisition Department Support
- Support new hire onboarding in ADP, including I-9/E-Verify, background checks, setup, and compliance training.
- Conduct HR orientations to review policies and expectations.
- Process offboarding tasks, including terminations in ADP, final pay accuracy, and return of company property.
HR Operations & Support
- Run and analyze reports in ADP to support HR and compliance initiatives.
- Partner with P&C leadership on HR projects, audits, and policy implementation.
- Provide administrative support to ensure smooth HR operations across sites.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or equivalent HR/payroll experience.
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
- 4 years of HR Generalist or payroll-focused HR role experience (multi-site experience preferred).
- Strong knowledge of California and federal labor laws
- Proficiency with ADP/Workforce Now or similar HRIS/payroll system.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Strong communication skills with ability to partner effectively with staff and leaders at all levels.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
