$42.30 - $62.47 Hourly
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.
DEPARTMENT: Parks and Recreation
HOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
LOCATION OF WORK: 632 W 6th Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501
Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step, and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.
Remote work schedule opportunities (telecommuting) may be considered after successful completion of probation, at the discretion of management and with the approval of the department head. Not all positions are eligible for remote work (telecommuting) per P&P 40-40.
To be considered for employment, candidates must be legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States. The Municipality of Anchorage is not able to provide any type of sponsorship, including Student Visas and Employment Visas, under any circumstances.
Example of Duties
Under general supervision, performs professional engineering or surveying tasks for parks and recreation engineering projects. Responsibilities include planning, designing, constructing, inspecting, and maintaining parks, recreational facilities, and related engineering projects. Prepare contracts, inspect complex construction projects, and advise on major problems of construction. Uses independent judgment and initiative to apply standard engineering or surveying principles, make calculations, and implement minor design changes as needed to ensure a project proceeds according to scope, budget, and schedule. Responds to concerns or complaints from the public regarding park related, drainage, site, or water quality concerns. Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications / Substitutions / Preferences
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geomatics, or a closely related discipline and four (4) years of professional engineering or land surveying experience.
OR
Associate's degree in civil engineering, Architectural Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geomatics, or a closely related discipline and six (6) years of professional engineering or land surveying experience.
All applicants must possess and/or obtain:
Valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of Alaska within six (6) months of hire.
Additional Important Information
Preference will be given to Anchorage Municipal Employees Association (AMEA) employees. AMEA employees who are successful in the screening process will be forwarded to the department for consideration prior to any non-AMEA applicants.
