National Fleet Management is hiring experienced Field Diesel Technicians to provide on-site maintenance and repair services for commercial fleet customers throughout the Virginia market.

In this role, you'll work from a fully equipped company service truck, travel directly to customer locations, diagnose and repair heavy-duty equipment, and take ownership of your daily workload.

Our field technicians typically service customers within approximately a 50–60 mile radius of home, giving you the independence of a field-based position without spending your life on the road.

Our operation includes multiple full-service repair facilities, more than 35 mobile service trucks, and service coverage across nine states. As we continue expanding, we're looking for experienced technicians who want the opportunity to grow alongside us.

Pay & Earning Potential

$32–$45 per hour, based on experience and performance

Our performance-based compensation structure gives skilled, productive technicians the opportunity to increase their earning potential while maintaining a strong focus on quality.

  • Our highest-earning Field Technician made $164,135 in 2025
  • Our Field Technicians average more than $100,000 annually
  • 90-day pay guarantee provided during your transition into the role
What You'll Be Doing

You'll provide professional mobile repair and maintenance services directly at customer locations while representing National Fleet Management in the field.

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

  • Troubleshooting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical concerns on heavy-duty commercial vehicles
  • Completing preventive maintenance services and DOT inspections
  • Repairing brake, suspension, steering, electrical, air, hydraulic, fuel, and engine systems
  • Recording repairs, labor, parts, and completed services accurately
  • Keeping your assigned company service truck organized, stocked, and ready for work
  • Communicating professionally with customers and providing a high level of service
  • Following established safety procedures and company standards
What We're Looking For

This position is a strong fit for a technician who is comfortable making decisions in the field, enjoys troubleshooting, and takes ownership of getting the job done correctly.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Previous experience repairing and diagnosing heavy-duty diesel trucks or equipment
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities
  • The ability to work independently and effectively manage daily assignments
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • A valid driver's license; CDL is a plus
  • A commitment to safe work practices and quality repairs
  • A dependable, professional, and team-oriented approach
