The ideal candidate is creative, organized, and able to make music production accessible and exciting for youth with varying levels of experience.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESTeach beginner-level DJ skills such as beat matching, cueing, mixing, transitions, and basic turntable or controller use.Introduce students to music production concepts including rhythm patterns, looping, sampling, layering, and basic audio editing.Use beginner-friendly software or equipment (e.g., DJ controllers, tablets, DAWs like GarageBand or Soundtrap).Guide students through hands-on projects such as creating simple tracks or practicing short DJ sets.Introduce musical concepts like tempo, BPM, genres, and sound textures.Promote creativity, collaboration, and confidence in students’ artistic expression.Prepare all equipment before class and ensure proper shutdown and storage afterward.Maintain an engaging, inclusive, and safe classroom environment.Communicate regularly with NYEG’s Director of Operations regarding scheduling, materials, and program updates.REQUIREMENTSExperience in DJing, music production, beat-making, or audio engineering.Ability to teach foundational music and technology concepts in a clear, age-appropriate way.Strong communication skills and comfort working with youth in group settings.Reliable, punctual, professional, and able to work independently.Basic understanding of audio equipment setup, troubleshooting, and safe handling.
