Guest Relations Staff are the face of the Museum. Welcoming, assisting, and engaging visitors to ensure a positive and memorable guest experience. This team plays a key role in the day-to-day operations of the Museum’s public spaces, including admissions and the gift shop. Team members are cross-trained across multiple areas to maintain smooth and efficient operations throughout the Museum.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Services & Admissions
- Greet all guests in a friendly and professional manner upon entry to the Museum.
- Process ticket and membership sales accurately using the Museum’s POS system.
- Provide information about the Museum’s exhibits, programs, events, and amenities.
- Maintain knowledge of daily schedules, tours, and special events to assist guests effectively.
- Ensure accurate cash handling, credit transactions, and creating daily sales reports.
Gift Shop Operations
- Assist guests with merchandise selection, answer product-related questions, and process purchases at the gift shop register.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of retail areas, restocking and straightening as needed.
- Support product launches, seasonal resets, and sales promotions as needed.
General Operations & Team Support
- Be cross-trained in all areas of Guest Relations operations to ensure coverage and flexibility across shifts.
- Support the Guest Relations Manager in maintaining a high standard of service, professionalism, and presentation.
- Communicate any guest issues, safety concerns, or maintenance needs promptly to management.
- Assist during special events, exhibit openings, or museum programs as assigned.
- Uphold all Museum policies and represent the organization positively to the public at all times.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or coursework in hospitality, retail, or communications preferred.
- Prior experience in customer service, retail, food service, or attractions (museum, zoo, theme park, etc.) strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a welcoming and enthusiastic demeanor.
- Ability to learn and operate point-of-sale and ticketing systems accurately.
- Comfortable working in a medium to fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Must be available for weekends, and special events as scheduled.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
