Job Summary:
Diesel Mechanic will perform regular preventive maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles owned by National Construction Rentals, Inc. (NCR). Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations concerning vehicle and equipment maintenance and safety. This position does not involve supervisory duties.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts routine preventative maintenance on NCR vehicles, including but not limited to: lubrication of automotive equipment such as chassis, oil and filter changes, gearbox fill or drain and flush, wheel bearing packing, and all other necessary lubrication procedures.
- Assists Mechanic and/or Sr. Mechanic in overhauling, rebuilding, and replacing major and minor assemblies and components.
- Ensures vehicle operational safety by verifying functions such as brakes, clutch, lights, mirrors, wipers, tires, etc.
- Changes and repairs tire and performs battery service as needed.
- Installs antifreeze and services cooling systems by filling, draining, flushing, and inspecting/replacing hoses.
- Performs minor repairs including replacement of lights, spark plugs, and ignition parts.
- Safely operates all necessary tools and equipment required for assigned duties.
- Drives service truck for parts pickup and provides roadside service as required.
- Adheres to all safety regulations and wears personal protective equipment as necessary.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Five years of experience in professional automotive maintenance and repair, with at least two years focused on repairing and maintaining commercial trucks or equivalent certified training/education.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret detailed documents such as operating and maintenance instructions or procedural manuals.
- Proficiency in executing routine tasks based on verbal and written mechanical guidelines.
- Experience using automotive diagnostic equipment.
- Proficiency in acetylene welding.
- Valid Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) required for vehicle road testing; Class A license preferred.
- Must obtain a DOT Medical Card to operate company vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 10,000 lbs. or more.
- A forklift certification will be provided after hire.
- Airbrake certification.
Physical Demands:
- Duties frequently involve lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of items weighing between 50 and 100 pounds.
- The work environment exposes employees to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and inclement weather conditions. Additionally, the job entails exposure to loud machines, vehicles, and mechanical noises.

Salary : $60,000 - $70,000
