The Associate Director of Finance is a key member of the Finance Department and supports National CORE’s mission by strengthening financial oversight, transparency, and informed decision-making across the organization. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role focuses on financial planning, analysis, financial reporting review, and budget oversight. In partnership with organizational leadership, this position ensures financial information is accurate, meaningful, and aligned with strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning & Analysis:
- Review monthly income statements, balance sheets, and related financial reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Analyze financial trends, key performance indicators (KPIs), and operational drivers.
- Identify unusual variances, misclassifications, or discrepancies and collaborate with Corporate Accounting to resolve them.
- Ensure financial results align with approved budgets and organizational goals.
- Prepare clear and concise financial summaries and presentations for leadership.

Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Lead the coordination and preparation of company-wide budgets.
- Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
- Partner with department leaders to understand programmatic and operational impacts on financial performance.

Process Improvement & Risk Management:
- Recommend process enhancements that improve financial visibility and reporting accuracy.
- Support effective use of financial systems and reporting tools within the Finance Department.
- Strengthen internal controls to mitigate risks and improve financial accuracy.
- Collaboration & Leadership:
- Partner with department leaders to align financial strategies with business objectives.
- Provide guidance and support for cost management and operational efficiencies.
- Promote clarity and consistency in financial reporting across departments.
- Lead and develop two finance managers.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Experience: 10 years of progressive experience in financial planning & analysis, budgeting, accounting or a related finance role

Accounting Knowledge & Competencies
The Associate Director of Finance should possess a solid foundation in general accounting principles to effectively review and validate financial information.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to read and interpret income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Understanding of account classifications, accruals, accrual reversals, and basic journal entry concepts.
- Familiarity with reconciliations and supporting documentation standards.
- Ability to identify potential misclassifications or irregularities in financial reporting.
- Experience partnering with accounting teams to address reporting discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
