SUMMARY: The Instructional Coach-Early Education Support is responsible for providing instructional leadership and ensuring the effective implementation of NCC’s Core Features, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Standards, and Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP). The Instructional Coach supports education staff through coordinated professional development, coaching, reflective supervision, and interdisciplinary collaboration to promote high-quality early learning environments, strong teacher-child interactions, and positive child outcomes for children ages birth to 30-months or 30-months to 5-years-old.

SCHEDULE AND LOCATION:

The ELC is located on Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue in SE Washington, DC. The centers hours are Monday-Friday 7:30am-5:30pm. This position will work either 7:30am-4:00pm or 9:00am-5:30pm.

This position has an annual salary range of $75,000-$84,000 and is dependent on the candidate’s skills and experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and coordination of professional development aligned with NCC Core Features, NAEYC Standards, and Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP).
  • Provide a predictable schedule of reflective supervision to support, develop, and evaluate classroom teachers through inquiry and reflective practice.
  • Implement structured coaching cycles (observation, reflection, feedback, and action planning) to strengthen evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Spend 2 to 4 hours daily in classrooms supporting teachers, providing guidance, and modeling developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
  • Support teachers in creating socially supportive, well-organized, and instructionally meaningful classroom environments, aligned with CLASS frameworks.
  • Guide the use of child screening, assessment, and progress monitoring data to inform lesson planning, individualization, and targeted instruction.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including education, family engagement, disabilities, mental health, and health/nutrition staff, to support whole-child development.
  • Participate in child reviews, IFSP processes, and planning for children requiring additional supports.
  • Partner with Family Engagement staff and leadership to strengthen family involvement and engagement in children’s learning and development.

Qualification Requirements

  • Strong alignment with NCC’s mission and values
  • Demonstrated knowledge of NAEYC Standards and Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP)
  • Experience with curriculum implementation, child assessment systems, and data-informed instruction
  • Strong leadership, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent coursework in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of early childhood classroom experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in coaching, mentoring, or supervision preferred
