What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver Manager (FT) position at National Carriers Inc?
Responsible for the management of the daily activities of a fleet of drivers. Optimizing their overall operational and financial performance. Essential duties and responsibility include the following but may vary based on the daily needs of the company.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain regular attendance, keep unscheduled time off minimized
- Dispatch drivers, track and check call several times per day
- Monitor on time pickup and delivery of freight with a GOAL = 100% on time.
- Record service issues and failures, document driver coaching
- Conduct follow up via email and/or verbally with customers and coworkers on ETAs and service issues
- Assist in repowers as needed
- Build and maintain relationships with fleet of drivers to increase retention
- Maintain continual communication with drivers via phone and satellite
- Ensure home time policy is followed and drivers are routed home in a timely manner
- Manage fuel compliance, idle percentage, out of route compliance and productivity goals
- Assist drivers with payroll questions and missing paperwork
- Assist claims department with accident and OSD documentation
- Monitor trailer alerts
- Other duties as assigned
Additional Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must pass a preemployment drug screen
- Must maintain a professional personal appearance
- Positive can-do attitude, possess a high degree of patience and flexibility
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written
- Computer experience required, AS/400 experience a plus
