The Parts Specialist is responsible for assisting internal and external customers with parts inquiries, orders, and sales while maintaining inventory accuracy and ensuring excellent customer service. This role requires strong attention to detail, product knowledge, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist customers (mechanics, drivers, fleet managers, and walk-in customers) in identifying and purchasing the correct parts for buses and related equipment.
- Maintain a well-organized parts counter and ensure prompt service.
- Process parts orders, sales, returns, and exchanges using the company’s inventory management system.
- Research and source parts that may not be readily available in stock.
- Monitor inventory levels and work with the Parts Manager to reorder stock as needed.
- Ensure accurate pricing and invoicing for all parts transactions.
- Receive, inspect, and stock incoming parts shipments.
- Provide recommendations on alternative parts when needed.
- Communicate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of orders.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the parts department.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent (vocational training in automotive or diesel mechanics is a plus).
- Previous experience in a parts counter, automotive, or heavy-duty vehicle parts sales role preferred.
- Knowledge of bus, truck, or automotive parts and components.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with inventory management systems.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy parts (up to 50 lbs).
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment:
- The role involves working at a parts counter in a bus maintenance facility, warehouse, or dealership setting.
- Frequent interaction with mechanics, fleet managers, vendors, and customers.
- Some physical activity, including standing, bending, lifting, and stocking parts.
