Commission Accounting and Contracting Specialist

Independent health and Medicare insurance agency located in Troy, Michigan. is seeking a highly organized and exceptionally accurate accounting professional to join our team.

Insurance experience is NOT required. We are looking for someone with strong bookkeeping/accounting skills who enjoys working with numbers, reconciling accounts, finding discrepancies, and making sure everything balances correctly. We will train the right candidate on insurance commissions, agent contracting, and our internal systems.

What You'll Do

• Process and reconcile agent commission payments
• Review commission statements and verify payment accuracy
• Research and resolve commission discrepancies
• Maintain accurate commission and accounting records
• Prepare reports and spreadsheets for management
• Process and track agent contracting and carrier appointments
• Maintain agent licensing and contracting records
• Follow up on outstanding contracting requirements
• Communicate professionally with agents, insurance carriers, and internal staff
• Maintain organized documentation and confidential financial information
• Assist with additional accounting and administrative responsibilities as needed

What We're Looking For

• Previous bookkeeping, accounting, accounts payable, payroll, commission accounting, or similar financial experience
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong numerical and reconciliation skills
• Proficiency with Excel and spreadsheets
• Ability to identify discrepancies and independently investigate problems
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Dependable and able to meet recurring deadlines
• Comfortable learning new software and processes
• Professional communication skills
• Ability to handle confidential financial information
• Willing and able to work in our Troy office
