Founded in 1955, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with more than 120,000 members. I. MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
Under the strategic direction of the Director, IT & Facilities, the Digital Content Associate will be responsible for supporting NASW’s 55-chapter webpages by editing HTML, troubleshooting technical and content issues, and making improvements based on best practices and usability. They will also help publish editorial content and images on SocialWorkers.org and NASW blogs, ensuring the material is ADA compliant. This position will look for cross promotion opportunities between all NASW sites—Chapter and National.
They will work closely with the Web Content Lead, Communications and Chapter Operations staff and leaders to implement a range of public and member engagement strategies.
II. BASIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
NASW Chapter Support
- Find and upload banner stock images to chapter homepages, embed feeds on chapter websites, and vet and crop non-stock images from chapter staff
- Create training materials (cheat sheets, videos) and upload to SharePoint
- Make improvements and troubleshoot issues on chapter websites based on best practices for usability
WebHelp@socialworkers.org
- Answer routine technical support questions from content owners across the association
- Help answer routine questions from content contributors
- Help approve and publish content updates on SocialWorkers.org
- Optimize and upload PDFs to DNN (all sites)
- Support content contributors in following best practices for web usability and ADA compliance
- Help download, crop with Photoshop and upload images from Getty.
ADA-compliance
- Assist in completing corrections from Criterion (vendor) scans
- Edit HTML on chapter websites and assure that the sites are ADA compliant
- Optimize & re-upload PDFs already in DNN
Search Improvement
- Help improve the searchability of NASW Chapter and NASW National webpages and assist with related association-wide digital projects.
- Update metadata for Pages and PDFs in DNN, as needed and add metadata to new PDFs
III. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
- Internal: Interacts with NASW staff, appointed leadership, and NASW chapter executives and staff.
- External: Interacts with partners, vendors and their staff.
IV. MINIMUM WORK REQUIREMENTS:
SKILLS
- Written and verbal communication
- Facilitation and leading virtual trainings
KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, social work or a related field required
- Strong understanding of writing and editing standards for websites, social media, and blogs
- Demonstrated understanding of user-experience design (UX) and workflow
- Photoshop (basic level: cropping photos to size, optimizing image quality)
- Knowledge of SEO strategy for content creation and marketing HTML knowledge required
- Knowledge of AP style preferred
EXPERIENCE
- 2 years of content strategy and writing experience, preferably for public-facing websites
- 2 years of website design or graphic design experience
- Experience using/managing content management systems (CMS); DNN Evoq experience preferred
- Experience following and enforcing content/branding guidelines
- Professional experience editing content for the web
- Adobe Photoshop experience preferred
- Adobe Illustrator experience is preferred
- Experience training others in Web best practices
- Experience creating training materials preferred

This position is a union position and is hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote).

Salary : $70,074 - $82,220
